Heart of Glass

Q:  How did you come up with your story?
I wanted to write a story about first love and the impact it can have on your life. When I was 17, I was deeply in love with a boy that let me down so I used him as inspiration.

Q:  Who or what inspired you to become a writer?
About 10 years ago I moved from Tasmania to Western Australia with my husband and two children. My husband worked away from home and I was very lonely because most activities in the town revolved around sport. I am not a sport minded person. Writing seemed like a fun way to fill in the hours when the kids were asleep.

Q:  Favorite genres to read?
History/Historical Fiction, Humor, Romance, chicklit, womens fiction

Q:  If you weren’t a writer, what would you be? Why?
I am actually a Reading Recovery teacher in my real life so being a full time writer would be a dream. During the day, I teach 6-7 year olds who are struggling with literacy. Its a great way to give children a love of books! If I didnt do that though, I’d always had a hankering to be an interior designer, architect or archeologist. I love beautiful things.

Q:  What are your pet peeves?
I absolutely loathe people who do not parent their children in public. Parents who let their children run riot because it’s too hard to tell them ‘no’ drive me nuts. Also parents who say ‘dont do that’ 50 times.

I also cant stand useless Rugby referees. (I looovvve Rugby union, especially the Wallabies)

Q:  What is something most people don’t know about you?
I am currently building a sustainable home in south west Western Australia with my husband. We want to open a luxury eco accommodation business and run weekends for writers.

I hate porridge because it looks like vomit.

Q:  Where else can we find you, other titles, or anything else you’d like to share?
My new book Perhaps…Perhaps is being released by Night Publishing in a month or so.
