T. L. Haddix
Q: Who or what inspired you to become a writer?
I can’t say that anyone in particular inspired me to be a writer, but the thousands of books I’ve read through the years have certainly played a part. I supposed the drive behind my becoming a writer was my love of books primarily, and my desire to create secondarily. Being a writer is what I have always wanted to be, even though I moved away from that and thought of it as somewhat childish and unrealistic in my 20s. Now that I’ve accomplished it in my 30s, I can’t imagine not doing this.
Q: If you weren’t a writer, what would you be? Why?
If I hadn’t decided to try my hand at writing and rediscovered my love for it, I would probably be one of two things – either a medical transcriptionist, which is what I was doing before I started writing again, or running my own genealogy business, which is what I had intended to do before figuring out writing was an option.
Q: Favorite genres to read?
Mystery, Thriller, Suspense, Noir, Romance
Q: What are your pet peeves?
People who have a sense of entitlement and/or people who think they’re better than others based on some ridiculous and archaic class system, people who think pets are just accessories, and networks who cancel great shows because someone had the idea of putting Jay Leno on at 10 p.m. every blasted night! I am also none too fond of technology, as it never seems to work properly around me, and one could venture to say that it is none too fond of me.
Q: What is something most people don’t know about you?
I have Rheumatoid arthritis, I can be very, very shy in social situations, and I always eat the brown M&Ms first.
Q: Where else can we find you, other titles, or anything else you’d like to share?
I do have a blog associated with my website, http://www.tlhaddix.com/content and I’m on Facebook – www.facebook.com/tlhaddix . Under the Moon’s Shadow, which is book two of the Leroy’s Sins Series is due out around the first of August 2010, and I’ve written a short story that is being turned into a short comic book for an anthology.
I’m looking forward to finding out where this journey of being a writer will take me, and can’t wait to see what is next.
